Find PenLayer after you open it

PenLayer has no Dock icon and no window. After you open it, look for a pen in the menu bar and a small handle on the right edge of your screen.

Click the pen in the menu bar to open PenLayer’s menu. From there you can:

• Start drawing, with the shortcut shown next to it (⌥⇧D by default).
• Open Preferences…
• Quit PenLayer.

Quitting lives only here, since there’s no Dock icon.

The toolbar handle

The toolbar sits parked against the right edge of the screen, halfway down. Only a small three-dot handle shows. Hover the handle and the toolbar slides out; move away and it slides back.

You can move it to the top or left edge, and change where along that edge it sits, in Preferences. See Set up the toolbar.

Drawing starts off

When PenLayer opens, drawing is off. Nothing on your screen changes and your clicks go to your apps as normal. PenLayer only takes over the screen once you start drawing.
